Flamenco Dance Workshops at Carnegie Community Centre! Saturdays Sept. 20 to Oct. 25 2 – 5 pm (except Sept. 27, 3 – 6 pm) In Carnegie Theatre This workshop is part of an ongoing series of Flamenco, which is an exciting and fiery form of dance and music from Southern Spain. At these classes, expect to hear new kinds of music and learn percussive hand clapping (palmas). We will have occasional guest guitarists and singers join us as we explore this expressive art form. Get ready to shout 'Ole!' Kelty has enjoyed sharing her love of flamenco with the Carnegie community for the last three years. She was a flamenco dancing Minotaur in Vancouver Moving Theatre's 2010 production of The Minotaur Dreams: The Downtown Eastside Labyrinth Project. She is involved with the Heart of the City Festival, organizing the Barrio Flamenco concert series celebrating the power of artists and artisans in the Downtown Eastside.
